Kenneth Mpholo – Kenneth found he was HIV positive in 2001.

To date, he is the only person to reveal his status in the community. Initially the community shunned Kenneth, he reported that some even saw

him as a killer. He was also accused of lying as the community members questioned how he could say he was sick and yet look so healthy. Kenneth sees it as his calling to help others. He trained as a home based care giver through Botlokwa hospital. Kenneth now works with 18 other care givers as a voluntary worker caring for others in the community. They say that Kenneth is an inspiration to their group. The carers meet under a tree by the clinic each morning and receive their list of daily visits from the

community sister. Kenneth washes, cares for, counsels, clothes and cooks for the sick. He visits orphans, provides food, ensures they are educated, helps with accessing of government grants. He also has aunique role as a motivational speaker on HIV and AIDS in the wider area. Kenneth spoke at the local event for World Aids Day.
