The Limpopo HIV and AIDS Summit will be held at Eiland Spa on 20th – 23rd February 2007. The Masibambisane team, working from and with the CHoiCe office, in Tzaneen have booked 50 speakers and facilitators representing a wide variety of interests including NGOs, CBOs, government and civil society. Over 250 delegates are expected for the four day conference, which will include a Gala Evening for ‘Unsung Heroes’, on Tuesday 20th February 2007 at 7pm. It is a historic moment in Limpopo’s fight against HIV and AIDS and the aims are to capacity build and to initiate a more urgent, focused, effective and united approach to fighting HIV and AIDS in Limpopo.

CELEBRATING SOME OF THE UNSUNG HEROES OF LIMPOPO

A team representing Masibambisane travelled 1,500km, within the Limpopo borders. They completed site visits and interviewed the 13 short listed candidates, chosen from a selection of 131 nominations, for Limpopo’s Unsung Heroes Awards Evening. Renowned South African photographer Matthew Willman was there to photograph the nominees in action. A final team of judges, including the Department of Health and Tlhavhama, will select 5 winners, each of whom will receive a R5 000 cheque for their exceptional and inspirational contribution to the HIV and AIDS cause in Limpopo.
