Segopotsi Emily Makofane was one of the first care givers to work for the Swaranang Home Community Based Care which started in 2003.

She is a strong, charismatic woman who wants to ensure those in need in her community have food, love and support. She works voluntarily, spending most of her time in the villages with patients completing all the normal home based care tasks, but she is noted in her organisation for always taking time counsel and help her colleagues. Fellow worker Tresia says that she hasn’t missed a day’s work since she started. She liaises between patients, social workers, the municipality and the clinic and tries to combat HIV and AIDS in her area.
